Rio De Janeiro Government, Rio 2016 In Talks Of Moving Water Polo

The Julio De Lamare aquatic park "runs the risk of not being used" during the 2016 Olympic Games as the Rio de Janeiro state government and the Rio 2016 organizing committee "are in talks over the possibility of taking the initial phase matches of water polo elsewhere," according to GLOBO ESPORTE. The problem "would be 'logistics'" but "there has not been an official decision, nor an alternative location." The Julio De Lamare "needs renovations in order to host the competition." However, Biologist Mario Moscatelli revealed earlier this month that "the water in the pools at the Julio De Lamare have not been treated." Moscatelli, who posted an aerial photo of the pools on social media, wrote, "Is there not enough money to put chlorine in the pools at the Julio de la Mare complex? Look at the color of the water" (GLOBO ESPORTE, 5/16).
