Bundesliga side Hamburg SV has appointed JÖRN SPUIDA as its managing director. Spuida joined the club in '05 and "has been running HSV's amateur sport division" since '07. He "will take up his new role" on June 1 (SOCCEREX, 5/5). ... Australian Football League side Western Bulldogs' board made an "unprecedented appointment of a fourth female director." Global exec search company Egon Zehnder consultant FIONA MCGAUCHIE "became the club's ninth board member at a meeting last week." McGauchie, who has a legal background, "was relied on by the club during its recruitment" last November of coach LUKE BEVERIDGE. She also advised the club during its search for a new CEO -- Nike exec DAVID STEVENSON -- "who was appointed last month." No other AFL club "has more than two female directors," with McGauchie joining SUSAN ALBERTI, GAYE HAMILTON and KYLIE WATSON-WHEELER on the board (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 5/6). ... The Qatar FA announced that JOSE DANIEL CARRENO will coach Qatar's national team. Carreno, who manages Qatar Stars League side Al Arabi, will replace Algerian DJAMAL BELMADI. The Uruguayan will take over as coach for Qatar’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches (QFA).
