Revolt Against Indian Olympic Association President Beginning To Gather Steam

The revolt against Indian Olympic Association President N. Ramachandran is beginning to "gather steam with some of the members even discussing the possibility of moving a no-confidence motion against him," according to Abhijeet Kulkarni of the MUMBAI MIRROR. Discontent against Ramachandran "had been brewing for quite some time now with many members feeling that the IOA chief was looking to run the show all by himself without taking the other office bearers and officials into confidence." In fact, Hockey India President Narinder Batra wrote a letter to IOA members last week "asking them about their views over the style of functioning of Ramachandran and whether he was the right person to lead the organisation." Batra had also cited that "the conflict of interest of Ramachandran as the World Squash Federation president, a matter which is now sub-judice, and later claimed that he had the support of over 65% members on the issue" (MUMBAI MIRROR, 4/28).
