Eurosport Wins Exclusive UEFA Champions League Media Rights In Singapore

Eurosport announced on Thursday that it has secured exclusive media rights for the UEFA Champions League in Singapore, according to CHANNEL NEWS ASIA. The channel, which is part of StarHub TV's Sports Group package, has an agreement with the European governing body of football for three years from the '15-16 season. Eurosport has rights to all 350 matches per season and will "broadcast one 'live' match on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each." All additional matches "will be made available to viewers online through OTT." SingTel has "had broadcast rights" for the Champions League from '09 until this latest season. A SingTel spokesperson revealed that the pay-TV provider had "put in a joint bid with StarHub for broadcast rights, but it was unsuccessful." A StarHub spokesperson said that at the moment, the upcoming three seasons of the Champions League "are not exclusive to any pay TV service provider" (CHANNEL NEWS ASIA, 4/23).
