Event Notes: Australian Football League On Brink Of Moving Grand Final Parade

The Australian Football League is "on the brink" of moving the grand final parade away from the center of Melbourne because of the new statewide public holiday. The 38-year-old Melbourne football tradition "has emerged as the major casualty of the Daniel Andrews government's decision to transform the eve of the grand final into a public holiday," a decision that will "leave the city void of workers and cost the league millions of dollars" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 4/21). ... Pakistan is "set to host top-level cricket for the first time" since the '09 gun attack on the Sri Lanka team bus, "with Zimbabwe lined up to tour." Pakistan Cricket Board President Shaharyar Khan expects Zimbabwe to play in Lahore and Karachi in mid-May (BBC, 4/21).
