Sky Deutschland Records Season-Low Ratings With Bundesliga Broadcast

German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland "recorded the lowest ratings of the season for its Bundesliga broadcasts on Saturday afternoon," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The coverage attracted a total of 990,000 viewers starting at 3:30pm. That is more than 300,000 less than the prior week. The market share also dropped from 15.7% last week to 12% on Saturday. The day's late game between Augsburg and Stuttgart drew 500,000 viewers. The audience figure was Sky's lowest since mid-December. However, the matchup between Bremen and Hamburg on Sunday recorded "strong figures" as 690,000 viewers tuned in. The day's second game between Wolfsburg and Schalke drew 580,000 viewers.

F1 RACE: German free-to-air TV channel RTL attracted close to 5 million viewers for its broadcast of Sunday's Bahrain F1 Grand Prix. An average of 4.91 million viewers tuned in to watch Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton win the race. The number translated into a market share of 29.2%. In the target demographic 14-49, the race obtained a 22.9% share. The podium ceremony was watched by 5.26 million viewers, while RTL's post-race coverage drew only 3.33 million. The market share decreased to 11.8% in the target demo (DWDL, 4/20).
