Media Notes: GoITV Acquires Broadcast Rights To Portuguese Cup

GolTV acquired the broadcast rights to the Portuguese Cup (Taça de Portugal). The agreement includes all eight rounds and the final match of the '15 tournament, plus the entire spring season in '16. All games will air exclusively on GolTV and broadcast live in HD. This is the second European property acquired by GolTV in recent weeks. Earlier this month, the network announced an agreement for broadcast rights to the Scottish Cup (GoITV). ... Maltese operator Melita "retained broadcasting rights for UEFA Europa League" until '18 following the latest round of bidding. All the UEFA Europa League matches "will be available" in digital and HD on Melita Sports channels along with other local and int'l sporting events (TELECOM PAPER, 3/31).
