Media Notes: BBC To Host Women's Footballer Of The Year Award

Fans are being given the chance to vote for the BBC Women's Footballer of the Year -- the first award of its kind hosted by a global broadcaster. The award will celebrate the top female footballers currently competing. A panel of experts -- including administrators, journalists, coaches and former players -- have come together to determine a five-woman shortlist. The contenders will be announced on April 26, with the winner revealed in May (BBC). ... The professional basketball bj-league has rescinded its ban on media access by The Japan Times with immediate effect. The ban was instituted on Oct. 11, 2013, and continued for more than 17 months. The ban was issued in a dispute over an article by staff writer Ed Odeven on July 12, 2013, regarding the Kyoto Hannaryz and remained in place for the entire 2013-14 season and the current campaign (Japan Times).
