Brasileiro Side Sport Club Do Recife Makes Membership Recruitment, Sponsorship Changes

Brasileiro side Sport Club do Recife President Humberto Martorelli "made it clear that one of his highest priorities" during his term will be to recruit more club members, according to Lucas Liausu of GLOBO ESPORTE. Currently, Sport Recife has 9,500 members, but the "president's idea is bold: he would like to reach 40,000 at the end of his term in December '16." To reach this amount, Sport Recife "decided to leave Brazil." The club's marketing department "studied success stories in foreign clubs" and contracted an English marketing firm that is "already working on a project" to understand why member numbers are low. Sport Recife Marketing VP Sid Vasconcelos: "The president has a goal of finishing his term with 40,000 members." Vaconcelos added that the club is "already working" on its database and its membership benefits. Along with working on the new membership campaign, Sport Recife's marketing department is also "working to renew its master sponsorship" with Caixa bank. Martorelli: "Our contract ends in June. The marketing department has already spoken with Caixa about opening discussions about renewing. The information we have is that Caixa will stay with football and we hope that's what happens. We haven't spoken numbers yet. My idea is to have a readjustment. Even if it's less than inflation value" (GLOBO ESPORTE, 3/4).
