Counterfeit Copa Do Brasil Tickets Seized Prior To Vitória-Palmeiras Match

Nearly 1,000 counterfeit tickets for the Copa do Brasil match between Brasileiro sides Vitória FC and Palmeiras were "seized" on Sunday by the Brazilian Federal Highway Police (PRF), according to Edimário Duplat of BAHIA NOTÍCIAS. The counterfeit tickets were found after the PRF searched a São Paulo bus arriving in Bahia and would have been sold at R$40 ($14) apiece, "half the price of the real tickets" at R$80 ($27). Suspect Raimundo Bento da Cruz stated "five other" people were on the way to Bahia to sell an additional 7,000 counterfeit Copa do Brasil tickets. Vitória President Ederlane Amorin: "It's a worrying fact, but there will be rigorous searches at the stadium because if, by chance, some of those tickets reached fans, they will not be permitted to enter the stadium. Tickets for Vitória games are always sold at the club's head office and authorized locations" (BAHIA NOTÍCIAS, 3/2).
