The Japan FA "will make a formal offer" to former Algeria coach VAHID HALILHODZIC. In order to "conduct formal negotiations with Halilhodzic," who took Algeria to the round of 16 at last year’s World Cup in Brazil, JFA Technical Dir MASAHIRO SHIMODA left for Europe on Thursday. Halilhodzic is not currently under contract, meaning he might be able to "see the start of the J. League season" on March 7 (JAPAN TIMES). ... The German Football Federation (DFB) is "mourning the loss" of WOLFRAM WUTTKE. The former Germany int'l has died at the age of 53, his ex-club FC Kaiserslautern announced Sunday morning. The former Bundesliga player had recently "been in a coma at a clinic in Lünen" and passed away in the "early Sunday hours." Wuttke "won four caps for the Germany national team" and was also "a part of the DFB’s Olympic team that won Bronze at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul" (DFB, 3/1). ... MANNY PACQUIAO can "add singer to his list of talents." The 36-year-old has decided that he will "sing his own entrance music for the long-awaited fight" with FLOYD MAYWEATHER as agreed earlier this month. Filipino TV station SAKSI released footage last night that shows Pacquiao "singing a song titled 'Lalaban ako para sa Pilipino' or 'I will fight for the Philippines'" (London INDEPENDENT 2/28). ... MO FARAH could face "questions" from the IAAF after "appearing in pictures taken during a recent training camp in Ethiopia" with shamed drug cheat HAMZA DRIOUCH. Farah was taking part in a "seven-week training camp" at the start of the year before he returned to competitive action in Birmingham last weekend, breaking the indoor two-mile world record "in the process." However, in "updating his fans with regular posts and photographs from the camp," he revealed that one of those with him in Africa was Driouch, who is "currently serving a two-year ban from competition" (INDEPENDENT, 2/28).
