MARCELLO LIPPI on Thursday resigned as the coach and the technical director of Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande, "citing health and family considerations." The World Cup-winning coach "led Evergrande to three straight CSL titles," one Chinese FA Cup crown and the AFC Champions League champion in '13. Evergrande Group VP LIU YONGZHUO said that the club suggested to the Guangzou municipal government that "Lippi be given honorary citizenship" (XINHUA, 2/26). ... Basketball ACT "appointed two new board members," DEBBIE COOK and GARY PETTIGROVE, at its annual general meeting on Tuesday night. VP GREG EVANS, Treasurer BRAD BARNES and Dir JERRY LEE "all retired from their posts after completing two-year terms" (CANBERRA TIMES, 2/26).
