Marketplace Roundup: India-Based Yepme To Sponsor West Indies At ICC World Cup

The West Indies Cricket Board said that India-based online shopping company Yepme "will sponsor the West Indies team for the World Cup." Yepme, established in April '11, "is headquartered in Haryana and specialises in online retailing of men and women's garments and accessories" (IANS, 1/28). ... Leicestershire County Cricket Club announced De Montfort University as its new official club sponsor. The two organizations have worked closely together in the past and De Montfort University has now signed a deal that sees it become the club's main sponsor in '15. The partnership will see De Montfort University in prime position on the front of the Leicestershire CCC playing kits next season and the university will also have branding around the ground and in club publications (Leicestershire CCC). ... Sports event management company Celebrity Management Group "has put forth a proposal to the Bangladesh Football Federation for organising a football league following the highly successful Indian Super League." Also, CMG "has offered to purchase all sponsorship and marketing rights of the Bangladesh national team" (INDIAN TELEVISION, 1/28). ... The European Broadcasting Union and Unipublic have reached an agreement to broadcast La Vuelta until '20 (La Vuelta). ... Mexican Football Federation President Justino Compeán said that the Mexican national team has renewed 80% of its sponsors and that the rest will be renewed by later this year. Compeán: "The Assembly continues to support us. We want to say to them that we are very proud, we have 80% renewed and surely in May we will have all of them renewed" (LA AFICION, 1/27). ... The contract for the TV rights for Barcelona for the '15-16 season "remains in the air, pending the club's execs deciding on one of the offers on the table:" Mediapro, which already had an agreement with former Barcelona President Sandro Rosell, or Telefónica, "which has appeared on the scene in the last few months and which just increased its proposal." Telefónica has also offered a parallel sponsorship deal of around €40M ($45M) over three seasons (EL PERIODICO, 1/28).
