Spanish Athletics Federation President Odriozola Highlights Success Fighting Doping

Spanish Athletics Federation President José María Odriozola said that in '14 "there was not one positive" doping test, according to the EFE. Odriozola: "We have to celebrate in 2014 that there has not been one positive although there is always an exception. We know from the media that sometimes known names appear in raids by the Civil Guard. As those investigations continue, after three months those athletes can return to competition." He also reminded that since July '13, "the responsibility for drug testing" belongs to the Spanish Anti-Doping Agency (AEPSAD). Odriozola pointed out that "now there are fewer tests than when the Federation was in charge: 547 in competition and 58 outside of competition." He added, "I believe it is not good that there are so few tests outside of competition, because those are the most effective" (EFE, 1/18).
