Former French Football Player Designs Social Network To Help Athletes Manage Careers

Former French int'l football player Louis Saha launched a social platform called AxisStars to help professional athletes manage their careers, according to 20MINUTES. Saha, who is in Paris for the Aspire Academy Global Summit, said, "The goal is to connect all the people who have a relationship with the world of sport: athletes, sponsors, agents, lawyers, doctors, so they can discuss, share, recommend individuals or companies." The former ManU player got this idea based on personal experience. His career was “chopped by numerous injuries from not always consulting the right specialists to treat his body.” AxisStars, his "Facebook for athletes," is aimed primarily at younger players. Saha: "If I recommend my agent or insurer, it is to guide them, help them choose the people who will be important in their careers." Athletes can register for free. Companies wishing to offer their services must pay for a subscription after their application is approved by an oversight committee. Specifically, registered athletes have access to a typical contract, with color coding to help them find “can’t miss” aspects at first glance. They can also find tips for buying homes and cars, or use it to swap concert tickets. Launched three months ago, the platform has about 80 members including Boris Diaw, Djibril Cisse, Frederic Michalak, Brahim Asloum and most recently Mo Farrah (20MINUTES, 10/7).
