Olympic Notes: Baku 2015 Signs Broadcast Deal With Turkish Sports Channel NTV Spor

The Baku 2015 European Games announced its first int'l broadcast agreement with Turkish sports channel NTV Spor. The agreement will see NTV Spor broadcast live coverage of all 17 days of the inaugural European Games across the whole of Turkey. NTV Spor will provide seven hours of Games coverage per day across TV, Internet and mobile platforms, with the majority being broadcast live. Live coverage of the Opening and Closing ceremonies will also be shown, in addition to making highlight packages available (Baku 2015).

RIO 2016: A fifth of the 7B reais ($3.1B) Rio 2016 Olympics operational budget is due to be pumped into ICT initiatives. ICT will account for the second largest slice of the funding pie," with only the core Games services division allocated more -- 21%. The private sector "is shouldering the full cost of the operational elements of the global event" (BN americas).
