Unfinished International Airport In Berlin Set To Host Cycling Bundesliga Final
Berlin's new int'l airport, which is still under construction, "will host a cycling race," according to Axel Blüchert of BILD. The Charlottenburg cycling club will organize the final of the U23 Bundesliga at the open space in front of the airport terminal on Sept. 14. Organizer Hein-Detlef Ewald said, "We will host the final time trial of the Cycling Bundesliga in a closed-off area at the airport. Start and finish will be located outside of the BER airport to make sure people will be able to attend. We received the approval of the airport group." The final of the Cycling Bundesliga, which has never before taken place in Berlin, is a two-day event. Prior to the time trial, there will be a 160km road race at Wannsee (BILD, 8/18).
