League Notes: Indonesia Athletics Federation Sets Standards For Amateur Running Events

Recognizing the "rapidly growing popularity of running events in the archipelago’s larger cities," the Indonesia Athletics Federation (PASI) "has issued a specific permit for organizers who wish to stage the social sporting activity." PASI Secretary General Tigor Tanjung said that the federation "was delighted to see the rapid rise of an athletic event that encouraged city dwellers to stay fit, but with their increasing frequency, PASI realized a set of regulations was needed." Tigor: "We have a moral obligation to make sure that all running events are organized according to international regulations" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 8/12). ... The meeting between the executive board of the Nigeria Football Federation and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, "was deadlocked, as the board members refused to obey the directives of the SGF to vacate the impeachment" and reinstate former NFF President Aminu Maigari. Maigari was impeached by the NFF board last month on "allegations of financial impropriety" (ALL AFRICA, 8/12).
