Marketplace Roundup: FC Kaiserslautern Signs Shirt Sponsorship Deal With Paysafecard

Australian Twenty20 side Perth Scorchers signed national IT and communications company Amcom as the club’s new joint principal partner. Amcom's logo will feature on the players’ shirts for home and away matches for the '14-15 T20 Big Bash League Season (Perth Scorcher). ... League Championship side Leeds United announced Symington’s as the latest business to join the Leeds United Commercial Partners program. Under the new partnership agreement Symington’s will promote its Mug Shots range of instant snack soups. Under the new agreement the Mug Shots brand will be featured around Elland Road and includes high profile signage on the external North East corner of the stadium. Mug Shots will also receive TV branding at the stadium and advertising throughout matchday media and across the club's digital and social media platforms (Leeds United). ... Juventus renewed its sponsorship agreement with Fiat until '21. The agreement will begin with the '15-16 season. Juventus said that the new deal is worth $22.75M per season plus variable bonuses "based on the club's results in national and international competitions" (AP, 7/31).

IN GERMANY: Second Bundesliga club FC Kaiserslautern has signed a new shirt sponsorship deal with online payment system paysafecard. The company's logo will make its debut on the front of the jersey during the club's season opener on Monday against 1860 Munich. The one-year deal was brokered by Kaiserslautern's marketing partner Sportfive (FC Kaiserslautern). ... Second Bundesliga side VfL Bochum agreed to a new partnership with Hospitality Alliance. The hotel chain, which has been a partner of the club since the '09-10 season, will increase its involvement and receive logo presence in and around the rewirpower Stadium (VfL Bochum). ... Six German 3rd League football clubs have signed new shirt and main sponsorship deals ahead of the '14-15 season. Chemnitzer FC (F. Becker Line), Dynamo Dresden (Feldschlößchen), Energie Cottbus (Karton.eu), MSV Duisburg (Duisburg Zoo/Schauinsland-Reisen), Hansa Rostock (Kurzurlaub.de) and VfL Osnabrück ("Wir sind Osanbrücker"/several companies). The average price for a shirt and main sponsorship deal in the 3rd League is about €430,000 ($577,000) (SPONSORs). ... Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen has "secured sponsorship from Baufix for the new Bundesliga season." The company, which specializes in wood paints and varnishes, "secured in-stadium advertising rights at Bremen’s 42,500-capacity Weserstadion" in a deal worth around €200,000 ($269,000) (SOCCEREX, 8/1). ... Merck "has secured the naming rights" to the home of 2nd Bundesliga club SV Darmstadt 98. The pharmaceuticals group "has reached a five-year deal," worth an annual €300,000 ($400,000), with the city of Darmstadt, to put its name to the 19,000-capacity Stadion am Böllenfalltor. The deal "also covers the new stadium planned for the city, work on which is expected to begin in 2015" (SOCCEREX, 8/1).

IN MEXICO: NFL Mexico Dir General Arturo Olivé said that the NFL's new sponsorship with Grupo Modelo in Mexico, through the Bud Light brand, "will be beneficial for the plans to hold a game in Mexico City." Olivé said, "This could help us because people are surely interested in the game and it will be useful to have this presence, as they already have at Estadio Azteca and at Ciudad Universitaria's Olympic stadium." He added that sponsorships are "just one of many factors in the effort to bring the NFL back to Mexico." The NFL in Mexico received its annual fan study, which indicated that the Dallas Cowboys "are again the most popular team in Mexico" (LA AFICION, 8/2).
