Former Spanish tennis player GALA LEÓN will take over as sports director of the Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET). It will be the "first time that a woman will lead the men's tennis body." León retired as a player in '04 (AS, 7/22). ... Brazil has named former player DUNGA as its "new coach for the second time." Dunga "was the captain of Brazil's 1994 World Cup-winning team and coached the national team" from '06-11. The 50-year-old said, "I am immensely happy to be back." Dunga replaces LUIZ FELIPE SCOLARI, "who resigned after Brazil reached the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup," but suffered the joint-heaviest loss in its history, losing 7-1 to Germany (BBC, 7/22). ... Serbian FA (FSS) President TOMISLAV KARADZIC said that Dutchman DICK ADVOCAAT "will take over as Serbia coach to lead the team's bid to qualify for the 2016 European Championship." Karadzic said, "The agreement we have reached with Advocaat is a result of month-long negotiations we’ve had with him and we will officially unveil him as the new coach in the next few days." The 66-year old Advocaat, who has coached a myriad of clubs and national teams including his native Netherlands, Belgium, South Korea and Russia, "will replace" interim coach LJUBINKO DRULOVIC, "who stepped in for SINISA MIHAJLOVIC "after Serbia failed to qualify" for this year's World Cup (REUTERS, 7/22). ... ISportconnect Editor at Large JAY STUART has resigned from his role as head of press & media relations of SportAccord Convention. His new venture, Northern Creative Studio, in partnership with Hollywood veteran MARK SOLOMON, will produce animated video content for promotion, marketing and entertainment (ISportconnect).
