Football Notes: Bundesliga To Vote On Introduction Of Vanishing Spray In December

The vanishing spray that made its debut during the World Cup in Brazil "could be introduced in the Bundesliga soon." The general assembly of the German Football League (DFL) will vote on the introduction of the spray at its meeting in December. DFL Head of Refereeing Hellmut Krug said, "The league is open toward its introduction. The clubs won't be against it." The vanishing spray could make its Bundesliga debut during the second half of the '13-14 season (DPA, 7/18). ... UEFA said on Tuesday that Ligue 1 side Paris St. Germain must close two sections of the Parc des Princes stadium for its next European home game after its supporters "threatened and insulted disabled Chelsea fans during a match in April." UEFA's control, ethics and disciplinary board ordered the closure of sections 104 and 105 of the stadium "following the incidents at the Champions League quarter-final first-leg game on April 2" (REUTERS, 7/22). ... TV presenter Gary Lineker has accused Premier League clubs of being greedy over ticket prices, saying that "there is no need for them to charge as much as they do." More than half of all top-flight English clubs "have raised their prices for the coming season" -- despite new TV deals bringing in £5.5B ($9.3B) over a three-year period. Lineker tweeted, "There is absolutely no need for Premier league clubs to charge what they do given TV revenues these days. It's pure avarice!" (London DAILY MAIL, 7/21).
