Liverpool Submits Bid Plans To Int'l Netball Federation To Host 2019 Netball World Cup
Liverpool is bidding to host the 2019 Netball World Cup, according to Phil Kirkbride of the LIVERPOOL ECHO. The city on Tuesday submitted plans to the Int'l Netball Federation (INF) with the "ECHO Arena at the heart of their proposal." Organizers would use the "waterfront Arena as a competition venue while athletes would train at the Exhibition Centre next door and use the BT Convention Centre as an INF Congress venue." Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson said, "One of our assets is our people and with a huge and diverse regional population of seven million, every competing athlete is assured a home welcome. What's more, with two airports within 45 minutes of the city, and located just two hours by train from London, teams and fans have many options to get to Liverpool" (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 7/1).
