DFB Continues Criticism Of FIFA, Sepp Blatter; Wants More Money For National Federations
The German Football Federation's (DFB) "criticism of FIFA and its President Sepp Blatter continues," according to the SID. DFB Treasurer Reinhard Grindel "is critical of Blatter's renewed candidacy and calls on FIFA to give more money to the national federations." Grindel said "it cannot be the case that FIFA only distributes a fraction of the drastically increased income from TV and sponsorships to the participating World Cup nations." Grindel: "Each nation must receive financial wiggle room through its participation in the World Cup in order to continue developing talent and youth support." In addition, Grindel said FIFA "needs reforms that provide transparency and openness." He added that everyone at the DFB "would have welcomed it if Sepp Blatter would have opened the way for a generation change" (SID, 6/17).
