Tokyo Olympic Committee To Enhance Cooperation With Tsunami-Hit Regions
Organizers of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are looking "to accelerate cooperation" with northeastern Japan areas hit hard by the '11 earthquake and tsunami, according to KYODO. Iwate Gov. Takuya Tasso, after a meeting with Olympic Committee Chair Yoshiro Mori, expressed hope the games "will be the best opportunity to show the world our restoration efforts and express our appreciation for all their support." The governor said that "possible hosting of training camps in his prefecture prior to the games could be a concrete example of such cooperation" (KYODO, 6/16).
