Spanish Side Osasuna President Resigns; Stadium Suffers Temporary Power Outage

Spanish second division side Osasuna President Miguel Archanco "confirmed that he is stepping down from his position," according to the EFE. Archanco is "leaving the club in the hands of a managing committee that will be elected by club members." His resignation "implies the resignation of the the club's exec board and comes on the day Osasuna turned in a viability plan" to pay off its €40M ($54.3M) debt to Spain's tax authorities. Archanco "did not participate" in the turning in of that plan (EFE, 6/16).

LIGHTS OUT: The EFE reported in a separate piece Osasuna's El Sadar stadium "was without electricity for two and a half hours on Monday" due to a lack of payment in a "new episode of the crisis that has fallen since the club was relegated from La Liga to the second division." From 8:30-11am, "the entire stadium, including the offices and team store, lacked lights." Osasuna "failed to meet two requirements of energy company Iberdrola regarding owed payments." An Iberdrola employee turned off the team's power "early Monday morning and the supply returned when club execs made the completed payment" (EFE, 6/16).
