Event Notes: Spanish Basketball Federation Releases Promo Ahead Of FIBA World Cup

The Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) released a "promotional video in which various Spanish cities start their day with a unique 'rain' of basketballs." The video "aims to start a countdown to the start of the FIBA World Cup," which will tip off in Spain on Aug. 30. Thursday marked 100 days until the tournament starts and the video features "basketballs scattered throughout Barcelona's Park Güell and Seville's Plaza de España at sunrise" (SPORT, 5/22). ... Indian Premier League Chair Ranjib Biswal "clarified that sound and fireworks restriction in Mumbai was just one of the many reasons to shift the final from the commercial capital to Bangalore." Mumbai Police "have a regulation about sound permission till 10 pm and hosting the closing ceremony without sound and light show would not have been possible" (PTI, 5/21). ... The "ever expanding" Faldo Series Asia "has added New Zealand and Bangladesh as new destinations" in the '14-15 calendar of events. Supported by the Royal & Ancient, ISPS and Mission Hills and endorsed by the Asian Tour and the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, the '14-15 Faldo Series Asia campaign "will stretch over 11 months leading to the climactic Asia Grand Final at the Mission Hills golf course in Shenzhen, southern China in March next year" (PHNOM PENH POST, 5/22). ... The FIA Formula E Championship announced that round seven of its inaugural season will be held on the iconic streets of Long Beach, Calif. The Long Beach ePrix, as it will be titled, will take place on April 4, 2015 and will form one of 10 races -- and one of two in the U.S. alongside Miami -- taking place in city-centers across the globe (Formula E).
