World Baseball Softball Confederation elected RICCARDO FRACCARI to lead the world governing body as its first president. Fraccari helped guide and deliver the birth of the WBSC as an interim co-president alongside DON PORTER since '12 (WBSC). ... Football League Non-Exec Dir RICHARD BOWKER has been named a non-exec director of the Board of Rugby League's elite competition by the Super League. Bowker is a former group CEO of National Express, chairman and CEO of Strategic Rail Authority, vice chairman of British Waterways and group commercial director of Virgin (Super League). ... Australian Football League Coaches' Association CEO DANNY FRAWLEY "has stepped down," saying that "he was unable to commit to the growing demands of the job." Frawley: "It is likely that the demands of the CEO role will broaden and that expectations of the role will grow, and I don't feel that I will be in a position to dedicate more time to the role given my other commitments and, in particular, my media responsibilities" (AAP, 5/14). ... VICENTE NETO "has been announced as the new president of Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Institute)" in place of FLÁVIO DINO, "who left the post to run for the government of Maranhão in the upcoming October elections." Neto "was previously working as a special advisor" to Dino. The move "comes at an interesting time," with the World Cup just a few weeks away, and preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympics "coming under increased scrutiny" (BREAKING TRAVEL NEWS, 5/14). ... NBCUniversal's Hispanic Enterprises named LUIS SILBERWASSER "as president of its Spanish-language broadcast network Telemundo." Silberwasser replaces EMILIANO ROMANO atop the Spanish-language broadcaster. He "will have overall responsibility for the Telemundo broadcast network and Telemundo Studios." He will start in August (BROADCASTING & CABLE, 5/13). ... La Liga side Malaga coach BERND SCHUSTER's "contract with the club is over." The club said in a statement that "Schuster will not coach Malaga next season" (EL MUNDO, 5/14).
