Marketplace Roundup: Beer Brand Quilmes Releases Pre-World Cup Spot Touting Argentina

Argentine beer brand Quilmes has released a commercial ahead of this summer's World Cup. The spot "shows why the Argentine national team is a threat to win the tournament, citing the team's top players including Lionel Messi, among other reasons." Quilmes sponsors the Argentine national team and its label shares the team's colors -- light blue and white (MARCA, 5/12). ... The Austrian football Bundesliga has extended its partnership with Austrian pharmaceutical company Croma-Pharma. The company will continue to be the official sponsor of the the league's referees. Croma-Pharma's logo will be on the officials' sleeves during the '14-15 season (Austrian Bundesliga). ... Austrian pay-TV channel Sky Österreich and the Vienna Int'l Airport have agreed to a cooperation. The airport will equip 10 of its restaurants with Sky's programming. Sky Österreich Head of Business Solutions Sales Gerald Mondi said, "The extensive cooperation with the Vienna Int'l Airport highlights the attractiveness and the huge interest in Sky from the business customer perspective" (DWDL, 5/12). ... Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen helped launch Oakley's latest Scuderia Ferrari Carbon Blade in Barcelona (Oakley). ... EPL side Southampton FC and electronics firm Veho have agreed to a two-year partnership. Veho will also launch a Saints range of co-branded electronics. A showcase of Veho's products was on display in the WestQuay Saints Store last Saturday (Southampton FC). ... Premiership rugby side London Wasps agreed to a shirt sponsorship with EMC. EMC will receive in-ground branding, stadium activation space, hospitality and promotion through Wasps communications and marketing channels (London Wasps). ... Adidas on Monday launched its "Battle Pack" footwear collection ahead of the World Cup. The new collection features a new boot from each of adidas' five ranges, each with its own black and white pattern. Adidas-sponsored players including Uruguayan Luis Suárez, Argentine Lionel Messi and Brazilian Dani Alves will wear the cleats (adidas).
