Barcelona "is not renewing the contract" of Youth Football Coordinator ALBERT PUIG. Barcelona President JOSEP MARIA BARTOMEU "decided on Wednesday not to renew Puig's contract, which expires in June." Sources said that Puig is the "scapegoat" of the FIFA sanctions the club was issued (EL PAIS, 4/30). ... EPL side Sunderland has named DAVID JACKSON marketing manager. The 32 year-old, who lives in Sunderland, "was formerly Marketing and Communications Manager for Newcastle-based law firm Dickinson Dees and was promoted to Head of Business Development Operations for the firm’s entire UK operation" when it merged to form Bond Dickinson in '13. Jackson "will oversee a team of eight staff members, specifically tasked with managing marketing campaigns for the club and its subsidiary 1879 Events Management" (FCBUSINESS, 5/1). ... Former Japan int'l striker WAGNER LOPES "has been named coach of Brazilian Serie A club Criciuma." Lopes was appointed less than a day after the sacking of CAIO JUNIOR, the club announced on Wednesday. Lopes, who began his career for Sao Paulo, "spent most of his playing career in Japan" (XINHUA, 5/1). ... The UAE Rugby Federation announced the resignation of Manager WAYNE MARSTERS on Wednesday. Marsters "is returning to his native New Zealand" to assume the position of coach educator and developer at the Canterbury Rugby Football Union in Christchurch (GULF NEWS, 4/30).
