Movistar TV Acquires Rights To Qualifiers For Euro 2016, 2018 World Cup
UEFA has awarded Movistar TV the rights to broadcast the qualifying matches for the Euro 2016 and 2018 World Cup, according to the EFE. Starting in September, Movistar TV, which is owned by telecom company Telefonica, will have a channel "dedicated exclusively" to int'l football. The channel will carry 546 official qualification matches for the Euro 2016 and 2018 World Cup. Movistar TV will carry all the qualifiers except those of the Spanish national team. Through Movistar TV, Telefonica already offers La Liga, the Champions League and the Europa League (EFE, 4/23).
