Berlin Olympic Stadium Will Continue To Host German Cup Final Until 2020
The Berlin Olympic Stadium "will continue to play host for the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) Final until '20," according to the SID. German Football Federation (DFB) President Wolfgang Niersbach "made the announcement on Thursday and signed a corresponding contract with the city state." The previous contract "was set to expire in '15 and has now been extended for another five years." In addition, this year's final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, which will take place on May 17, "is breaking all records." Niersbach: "We could sell 500,000 tickets, that's not an exaggeration." The DFB "has already provided credentials to 500 journalists for the final." The final "will be broadcast in close to 200 countries." It "will be the 30th consecutive DFB-Pokal Final at the 75,708-seat Berlin Olympic Stadium" (SID, 4/24).
