Financially Struggling Handball Bundesliga Side HSV Hamburg Pays Outstanding Salaries
The players and head coach Martin Schwalb of financially struggling Handball Bundesliga (HBL) club HSV Hamburg "finally received their March salaries on Tuesday, 17 days behind schedule," according to SPIEGEL ONLINE. It has been reported that club patron Andreas Rudolph "provided the money in advance to avoid bankruptcy." There recently "have emerged discussions regarding license difficulties of the club due to the outstanding salary payments." HSV Managing Dir Holger Liekefett and Rudolph "are currently working on a general solution for the club's financial problem." The league will send out its license decisions on May 15 (SPIEGEL ONLINE, 4/23).
