Event Notes: I-League Side Bengaluru FC To Start Grassroots Initiative

I-League side Bengaluru FC on Tuesday announced its "BFC Soccer School" initiative at the Bangalore Football Stadium -- an exclusive grassroots program designed by the club to attract the top youth talent in the city. Club COO Mustafa Ghouse said that it hopes to build centers all over Bangalore, "with the first one at Bellandur." Ghouse: "The center will be operational from the second or the third week of April" (DECCAN HERALD, 3/26). ... This year's World Men's Curling Championship will kick off in Beijing on Saturday. The World Curling Federation said the event has attracted "12 top men's curling teams in the world." This is the "first WCF World Championship event to be staged in China." The nine-day championship will feature 12 teams representing "the hosts China," the Czech Republic, the U.S., Japan, Denmark, Germany, Russia, Scotland, Canada, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland (XINHUA, 3/26). ... The Hoop It Up 3x3 Basketball Tour announced that it renewed its partnership with FIBA on Tuesday. The agreement runs through '17 and ensures that Hoop It Up will remain a preferential operator of 3-on-3 tournaments in North America for FIBA. The announcement coincided with the start of the 25th season of Hoop It Up (Hoop It Up).
