German 3rd League Football Club Hansa Rostock Sets Foundation For Debt Relief

German 3rd League football club Hansa Rostock “has, together with its creditors, launched a financial recovery concept,” according to 3-LIGA. The club’s total debt, which currently stands at €30M ($41.7M), “will be drastically reduced.” The reduction "is based on annual recovery payments by the club" of about €2M ($2.8M). Due to an increase in revenue and cost-reduction measures, the club "expects to be back in the black starting with the upcoming season." Rostock Supervisory Board Chair Thomas Abrokat said, “We’ve set the foundation to talk about a sustainable debt relief of the club” (3-LIGA, 3/17).
