Media Notes: 'Maracaná' Documentary Of 1950 World Cup's Trailer Released

A documentary titled "Maracaná," which tells the story of Uruguay's "surprising 2-1 defeat of Brazil in the finals of the 1950 World Cup in Brazil," will debut in March. The film's directors are Uruguayans Sebastián Bednarik and Andrés Varela. Its trailer was released on Thursday, introducing the Twitter hashtag "#cambiálahistoria" ("change history") (EL PAIS, 3/15). ... TV coverage of the Int'l Cricket Council World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 is set to break all previous ICC events’ broadcast records. The coverage, produced and distributed by the ICC’s global media rights partner and host broadcaster, Star Sports, will have a potential reach of more than 1.8 billion viewers with live pictures shown by 29 broadcasters -- both figures the highest ever for an ICC event. The event will be shown in more than 20 languages with pictures going across Europe via Eurosport and as far afield as Norway, Nepal, Afghanistan and the Pacific Islands (ICC). ... WWE and ProSiebenSat.1 announced an expansive multi-year rights deal to deliver WWE to the German and Austrian markets through free-TV, pay-TV and SVOD. WWE pay-per-view events will be available on German online video store www.maxdome.de. Monday Night Raw and NXT will air on pay-TV channel ProSieben FUN and SmackDown on free-TV channel ProSieben MAXX (ProSiebenSat.1).
