French Pay-TV Channel BeIN Sports Acquires Broadcast Rights For 2014 World Cup

French pay-TV broadcaster beIN Sports "has acquired the rights in France for the 2014 FIFA World Cup," according to SOCCEREX. In a sublicensing deal with commercial broadcaster TF1, beIN "will show live coverage of all 64 World Cup matches from Brazil, including 36 on an exclusive basis." The agreement marks the first time the World Cup "has been shown on a pay-TV channel in France." The financial details of the deal "were not disclosed" (SOCCEREX, 3/14).
