French Pay-TV Channel Canal+ Extends Its Exclusive Coverage Of Golf, Tennis In Spain

French pay-TV channel Canal+ is extending its exclusive rights contract for tennis in Spain through '19, according to AS. Canal+ will offer all Masters 1000 matches besides Madrid and carry 34 tournaments per year. The channel will also offer more than 130 golf tournaments as "part of its strategy of betting on premium rights to improve what it offers to clients." Canal+'s new tennis and golf rights "join the already wide sports offering that includes football, basketball, rugby, handball, volleyball, motorsports and track and field." Canal+ Golf, for its part, will offer exclusive coverage of the Masters, as well the Open Championship, US Open, Ryder Cup and the entire European Tour and PGA Tour, among others (AS, 2/27).
