ARD Attracts More Than 7 Million Viewers To Olympics Ski Jumping Broadcast

German public broadcaster ARD "recorded top ratings for its Winter Olympics broadcasts on Monday," according to Sidney Schering of QUOTENMETER. The most-watched event on Monday was the men's ski jumping team competition, which started at 6:15pm. A total 7.05 million viewers tuned in to watch the German team win Gold ahead of Austria and Japan. The number translated into a market share of 27.4%. In the target demographic 14-49, ARD's coverage attracted 1.66 million viewers and had a 19.6% share. Following ski jumping, the channel aired the men's aerials, which was watched by 5.1 million viewers starting at 8:30pm. The competition obtained a market share of 15.2%. In the target demographic, the broadcast attracted 1.55 million viewers and had a 12.6% market share. The day's highest market share was generated by the women's 12.5km mass start biathlon race at 3:55pm. The event obtained a market share of 37% as 5 million people tuned in. In the target demographic, the biathlon event attracted 960,000 viewers and had a 22.9% share (QUOTENMETER, 2/18).
