Liga MX Side Atlas Members Question Club's Financial Dealings Following Sale To TV Azteca

Following a meeting where Liga MX Atlas' financial figures were revealed, "10 club members did not accept the figures" given by Atlas President Eugenio Ruiz Orozco, which indicated that the club's debt had increased by 94M pesos ($7.1M), according to Rigoberto Juárez of LA AFICION. After Atlas was purchased by TV Azteca in November, club members "were told they would each receive nearly 570,000 pesos." In a "surprise, however, the club's debt increased and the 110 members received 393,510 pesos." One shareholder, Rubén Romero Valencia, "did not hide his anger and assured that members could take legal action with 'respect to the sale of the club.'" Valencia: "When the team was sold to TV Azteca, we were told the club's debt was 333 million pesos. When figures to determine the settlement were provided, we were told this sum was 424 million pesos. There was no clarity. ... We are going to review this because we believe there was irregularity and we will consider with our lawyers whether we will take action against the club's current execs" (LA AFICION, 2/17).
