Football Federation Australia Reportedly Set To Confirm Sale Of A-League Western Sydney
Football Federation Australia is "expected to announce the long-awaited sale" of A-League side Western Sydney this week, according to Ray Gatt of THE AUSTRALIAN. The FFA board "gave its final approval to the deal at a board meeting on Saturday and, as revealed in October, the club will be handed to a consortium of overseas and local businessmen." It is "believed millionaire businessman Jefferson Cheng, who is based in Singapore, is the primary financial backer." His partners include Sydney-based millionaire Paul Lederer and Pirtek Industries Founder Peter Duncan (THE AUSTRALIAN, 2/17).
