Football Notes: Al-Thani Family Reportedly Interested In Serie A Side Cagliari

The Al-Thani family is "said to be interested in taking over from Massimo Cellino" at Serie A side Cagliari. The Middle Eastern billionaires "reportedly want to have a foothold in Italian football, and see the Sardinian side as their best opportunity" (FOOBALL ITALIA, 2/11). ... Brazil's Arena Pantanal World Cup stadium "reached 95% completion on Monday following the installation of 100 solar panels on the venue's roof." The stadium in the western city of Cuiaba "is earmarked to be ready by mid-March" (XINHUA, 2/11). ... Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia's former lawyer Radostin Vasilev "has criticised the club management and ownership saying it is almost certain that the Bulgarian club will not get a license for next football season" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 2/11). ... Lao Development Lottery State Enterprise said that the service "would allow gamblers to legally forecast and bet on winners of soccer matches." Football matches of all the famous leagues worldwide, even the upcoming World Cup, "will be included in the new online gambling system" (BANGKOK POST, 2/11). ... Spain's Civil Guard has charged a "man who threw a dog at a ref during a regional football game on Sunday with animal abuse and violation of the Law against Violence in Sport."
