Spanish Football League Names Manuel Quintanar Director Of Its Integrity Unit
MANUEL QUINTANAR will be the new director of the Spanish Football League's (LFP) integrity unit, according to the EFE. Quintanar is leaving the Spanish Agency for Sports Health (AEPSAD), where he was appointed president in October. The AEPSAD and LFP confirmed Quintanar's new position "in which he will oversee the LFP's battle against fraud in a unit that will pursue cases of suspected match-fixing, doping and piracy" (EFE, 1/15). In Madrid, Gerardo Riquelme reported LFP President JAVIER TEBAS "has maintained since he became president that one of his priorities is the fight against match-fixing." The AEPSAD is expected to make ENRIQUE GÓMEZ BASTIDA Quintanar's replacement. Bastida "led the Civil Guard involved in the Operation Puerto doping case" (MARCA, 1/15).
