Scottish FA Head Of Referee Operations 'Open To Debate,' Possibility Of Sin-Bins In Scotland

Scottish FA head of referee operations John Fleming "has given a cautious welcome to the concept of sin-bins in Scottish football," according to Gary Ralston of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. Fleming, however, admitted that "there are more questions than answers after two new panels were established to advise on radical law changes in football." The "10-minute tank has been established" in rugby for more than a decade and Scotland Rugby Union Head of Match Officials Roy McCombe "reckons it could also transform football." Fleming is "keen to explore all options in a bid to make football an even more appealing spectator sport." Fleming: "I'm always open to debate on ways to improve the game and if the sin-bin is trialed at the appropriate levels and evidence gathered to prove it works, I'll be all for it. I have an open mind but there are a range of practical issues that still have to be addressed" (DAILY RECORD, 1/15).
