Cristiano Ronaldo Beats Out Messi, Ribery To Capture Ballon D'Or At FIFA Awards Ceremony

CRISTIANO RONALDO won the Ballon d'Or at the FIFA Awards Ceremony on Monday in Zurich. Ronaldo won the award ahead of LIONEL MESSI and Bayern Munich's FRANCK RIBERY, who finished third in the voting. The Portugal and Real Madrid player scored 69 goals in 59 games this year. Other players and coaches awarded during the ceremony included German goalkeeper NADINE ANGERER, who was named Women's World Player of the Year. Fellow Germans JUPP HEYNCKES and SYLVIA NEID took home the awards for men's and women's coach of the year, respectively. Belgian former IOC President JACQUES ROGGE won the FIFA Presidential Award, with the FIFA Fair Play Award going to the Afghanistan Football Federation. The Puskas Award for goal of the year went to Sweden's ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC for his overhead strike against England (FIFA).
