Russian Weather Agency Director Expects 'Blanket Of Snow' For February Olympics

Russian weather agency Roshydromet Dir Roman Vilfand predicted on Monday that the upcoming Olympics "will have enough snow," according to R-SPORT. Vilfand "sought to end any concerns about snow shortages by insisting that there would be a suitably wintry setting" for the event. Vilfand: "There's snow right now at all the Olympic facilities, and now it's possible to say with confidence that there will be a blanket of snow at all the Olympic venues." Vilfand added that a "layer of artificially produced snow would nonetheless be fired onto the slopes because 'professionals prefer man-made snow'" (R-SPORT, 1/13).
