Pro12 Rugby Side Edinburgh To Continue Playing At Murrayfield Despite Worm Problem

A Scottish Rugby Union spokesperson has confirmed that Edinburgh "will continue to play" their Pro12 and Heineken Cup games at Murrayfield this season, "dismissing suggestions that the club might find another temporary home in order to allow the national stadium’s parasitic worm infestation to be tackled," according to Alasdair Reid of the London TELEGRAPH. Murrayfield’s "nematode worm problem first came to light in September, and the pitch has carved up badly at recent Edinburgh and Scotland games." However, the Union spokesperson said that "the blight had now reached 'a manageable level' and that a sustained period of good growing weather in spring would help to get the pitch back into good order." Scotland will host England and France at Murrayfield in the forthcoming Six Nations tournament. Those matches "are also under no threat, although it has been suggested that some games, such as schools fixtures, that are due to be played in the stadium could be moved elsewhere" (TELEGRAPH, 1/8).
