Mediapro To Sell Next Two Seasons Of Spanish F1 TV Rights; Atresmedia Among Favorites

Multimedia group Mediapro will on Monday put the Spanish TV rights for the next two F1 seasons on sale, according to Daniel Gorbe of F1 AL DIA. Broadcasters can "now present offers for the '14 and '15 F1 seasons, as Mediapro will sell to the highest bidder." Mediapro President Jaume Roures "assured that TV rights will not be more expensive than in past years." Roures: "It will follow the same parameters, but it is being exaggerated, as always. We bought it very expensive when we made the purchase. When others buy, it is very cheap. We never entered the price war." The Atresmedia Group is the "favorite to win the broadcast rights that will go on the market." Atresmedia Group CEO Silvio González said, "If the price of F1 is profitable, we will go for it. If not, we will not" (F1 AL DIA, 12/3).
