Event Notes: Spurs, Timberwolves Tip Off NBA Global Games Wednesday In Mexico City

The NBA will tip off NBA Global Games Mexico City 2013 Wednesday when the San Antonio Spurs face the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Mexico City Arena. This will mark the NBA's second regular-season game and record 21st NBA game played in the country (NBA). ... The Qatar Basketball Federation will host the FIBA three-on-three All-Stars event for three years in a row beginning with the inaugural event at Katara on Dec. 12. The event "offers a total purse of" $120,000. The teams taking part are Brezovica (Croatia), Caracas (Venezuela), FC Barcelona (Spain), Nagoya (Japan), Novi Sad (Serbia) and Doha (GULF TIMES, 12/2). ... Boxing matches in Puerto Rico scheduled for Saturday night have been postponed because "two of the featured fighters are from the Philippines and were unable to get their visas in time due to the devastation from Typhoon Haiyan." The card has been rescheduled for Jan. 25 at the same location, in Humacao (ESPN, 12/2). ... Int'l Cricket Council Anti-Corruption Unit Chair Ronald Flanagan and Omnia Strategy Chair Cherie Blair will be part of a panel discussing corruption in sport at Doha GOALS 2013. The debate will take place on the second day of the global forum held Dec. 9-11 at the Aspire Academy (Doha GOALS).

NBC Olympics’ Molly Solomon, ESPN’s P.K. Subban, the Masters and more

The first is with Molly Solomon, who will lead NBC’s production of the Olympics, and she shares what the network is are planning for Paris 2024. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s P.K. Subban as the Stanley Cup Playoffs get set to start this weekend. SBJ’s Josh Carpenter also joins the show to share his insights from this year’s Masters, while Karp dishes on how the WNBA Draft’s record-breaking viewership is setting the league up for a new stratosphere of numbers.
