Architecture Firm's Stadium Evaluation Favors Barcelona's Camp Nou Over Real's Bernabéu
A study by architecture firm Fenwick Iribarren ranking the structure of La Liga stadiums showed that "Barcelona fans should be more satisfied with Camp Nou," according to Albert Masnou of SPORT. Barcelona's stadium "obtained a score of 393 out of a possible 500." The only "requirement for which Camp Nou was penalized was the distance from the third level to the field: it was too far to appreciate football well." Barcelona's stadium beat out Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu. The rankings are based on several factors, including "the distance from seats to the opposite corner, which penalizes stadiums with tracks around the field; the angle from the stands (very low or very high seats are both negative), and the seating arrangements" (SPORT, 11/25).
