The Int'l Triathlon Union has appointed ANTONIO FERNANDEZ ARIMANY as its new director general, "making him operational leader." Arimany "served as the ITU Legal, Finance and Administrative Director" since '10, and "will now report directly" to ITU President MARISOL CASADO (220 TRIATHLON, 11/13). ... League Championship club Middlesbrough signed AITOR KARANKA to a two-and-a-half year deal as head coach on Tuesday. Karanka turned down EPL Crystal Palace after taking advice from Chelsea Manager JOSE MOURINHO (London INDEPENDENT, 11/13). ... Pakistan Golf Federation VP TAIMUR HASSAN was elected as the secretary general of Asia Pacific Golf Confederation. Hassan "will be responsible for golf development and promotion in the Asia Pacific and he will hold this portfolio for a period of two years" (PAKISTAN TODAY, 11/13).
